Reference Data¶

Several fields on POST /v2/reference/quote and POST /travellers are plain strings on the wire, but HGN's own booking apps only ever populate them from a fixed set of values — a nationality dropdown, a blood-group select, the Health Self-Declaration checklist, and so on. None of these value sets are exposed by an endpoint; they are compiled into the frontend.

This page publishes them, so your integration can present the same choices HGN's own apps do, and so the free-text fields below don't have to be guessed at.

These are UI-recommended values, not a validated server-side enum

Except where a field is explicitly documented as an Enum in Booking or Availability, the API accepts any non-blank string for these fields — it does not reject a value absent from the lists below. The lists are what HGN's own apps send today; sending something else is technically possible but untested and may render oddly in HGN's dashboards, which format some of these fields (nationality flags, blood-group badges) by matching against them. When in doubt, use the published value verbatim.

Nationality¶

nationality on both POST /v2/reference/quote and POST /travellers takes a demonym, not a country name or ISO code — "American", not "USA" or "US". The API validates it only as a non-blank string up to 100 characters (see Availability).

gender is documented as an Enum on POST /travellers. Every current HGN form sends one of:

ID type¶

idType is documented as an Enum on POST /travellers, required, e.g. PASSPORT. HGN's own booking flows — including the CSV bulk-import path — always send PASSPORT and pair it with passportDocumentId; that is the only value exercised in production traffic today.

A traveller-management screen elsewhere in the app also offers NATIONAL_ID, DRIVING_LICENSE, and CITIZENSHIP, but no live flow submits them through this endpoint. Confirm with the HGN integrations team before relying on anything other than PASSPORT.

Emergency contact relation¶

emergencyContactRelation on POST /travellers is required but is a free string — the API does not enforce an enum. HGN's forms suggest:

Phone numbers and calling codes¶

phone and emergencyContactPhone on POST /travellers both take a phone number with country code. Send it as:

<callingCode>-<digitsOnly>

that is, the calling code, then a literal hyphen, then the number with no other separators — for example +977-9841234567.

Required shape, not a style preference

This is the exact format HGN's own apps compose and every HGN dashboard parses phone numbers back out of. The API's own field-level validation is lenient about the separator — spaces, dots, and parentheses are also accepted on the way in — but sending anything other than <callingCode>-<digitsOnly> risks the number displaying or re-parsing incorrectly in HGN's dashboards downstream. Always use the hyphen form.

The dropdown is not restricted to Nepal or any subset — every country below is offered, with Nepal (+977) as the default selection.

Health self-declaration¶

Before submitting a traveller, HGN's booking flow requires answering a Health Self-Declaration: whether the traveller has, or has had, any condition on a fixed notification table. This gate exists because coverage for AMS, HAPE, HACE, and other altitude-related illnesses is automatically excluded when a declared condition applies — it is a legal disclosure, not cosmetic UI copy, so the wording matters if you reproduce it.

Two fields on POST /travellers carry the outcome:

medicalHistory is required, and sends category names verbatim, comma-space joined

HGN's app builds this by joining the selected category labels with ", " (comma, then space) — not a coded enum, not semicolon-delimited. Match the exact spelling and punctuation in the table below ("Neurological & Psychiatric Diseases", not "Neurological and Psychiatric Diseases") if you want values that render correctly in HGN's dashboards. When nothing is declared, send "None" rather than omitting the field or sending an empty string.

The notification table¶

This is the full table HGN's booking flow shows travellers, with the declaration text it accompanies:

I hereby solemnly declare that I have never suffered from, nor am I currently suffering from, any of the diseases or symptoms listed in the following NOTIFICATION TABLE OF EXCLUSIVE HEALTH CONDITIONS. If I fail to truthfully disclose any of the following health conditions or past medical history, any insurance coverage relating to Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE), High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE), or any other conditions arising from or related to AMS shall automatically become void.

Category	Specific diseases / symptoms
Tumors	Benign and malignant tumors (including leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma), borderline tumors or tumors of uncertain malignant potential, carcinoma in situ, precancerous lesions.
Hypertension	Systolic blood pressure ≥ 160 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure ≥ 100 mmHg.
Hyperglycemia	Diabetes or fasting blood glucose > 6.2 mmol/L.
Cardiovascular Diseases	Coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, cardiomyopathy, rheumatic heart disease, valvular heart disease, severe arrhythmia, cardiac insufficiency of Grade II or above; aortic aneurysm, aortic dissection.
Cerebrovascular Diseases	Stroke (including cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage), carotid artery aneurysm, intracranial hemangioma/malformation.
Neurological & Psychiatric Diseases	Encephalitis or myelitis and their sequelae, brain and spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, intellectual disability, epilepsy, mental illnesses.
Kidney Diseases	Chronic kidney disease, renal insufficiency, nephrotic syndrome.
Digestive System Diseases	Hepatitis or hepatitis virus carriers, alcoholic liver disease, liver cirrhosis, liver failure, pancreatitis, ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease.
Hematological Diseases	Anemia, aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndromes.
Rheumatic & Autoimmune Diseases	Systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis.
Respiratory Diseases	Asthma, interstitial lung disease, bronchiectasis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (including chronic bronchitis, emphysema), respiratory insufficiency.
Orthopedics & Surgery	Unhealed fractures of upper/lower limbs; unhealed soft tissue injuries.
Pregnancy	Females who are currently pregnant.
Others	HIV positive, paralysis, severe visual impairment or severe hearing impairment, moderate to severe disability, history of tissue or organ transplantation or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation; persistent or intermittent pain of unknown cause (lasting more than 1 month); convulsions, progressively worsening tremors, muscle atrophy or muscle weakness, motor dysfunction.

medicalHistory accepts either the literal string None, or any comma-space-joined subset of the Category column above — Tumors, Hypertension, Hyperglycemia, Cardiovascular Diseases, Cerebrovascular Diseases, Neurological & Psychiatric Diseases, Kidney Diseases, Digestive System Diseases, Hematological Diseases, Rheumatic & Autoimmune Diseases, Respiratory Diseases, Orthopedics & Surgery, Pregnancy, Others.
